The Crystal Gala

In 2007, the Crystal Gala Foundation pledged a lead gift of $500,000 to A Campaign for Health Care Excellence to ensure that hospital patients receive the best possible treatment and care. The Breast Health Unit for screening mammography is named after the Crystal Gala. In 2010, a further $500,000 was pledged and with the generous support of the Crystal Gala sponsors, donors and guests, the Foundation fulfilled this $1M commitment in 2014. The Fraser Health’s Abbotsford Breast Health Centre has moved to a new space at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, thanks to a generous $500,000 pledge by the Crystal Gala Foundation through the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation. This gift will provide medical equipment and furnishings to ensure that staff have optimal space and access to technology, while providing the best treatment and comforting experience for patients in the new location.

Mount Cheam and Steller’s Jays Lions Club

Currently we are working with the Mount Cheam and Steller’s Jays Lions Club on their Centennial Legacy Project. This project is raising funds for the Chilliwack General Hospital Eye Center to provide two (2) Phacoemulsification Systems used for cataract surgery. These new systems are designed to improve patient outcomes, enhance surgical control and provide a smoother procedure overall. Now, cataract surgery will never be the same.

Rotary Club of Chilliwack – Fraser

Rotary Club of Chilliwack Fraser donated over $100,000 to the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation for the purpose of creating a new Paediatric Observation Unit at Chilliwack General Hospital.

The new paediatric observation model is a ‘hybrid’ program, combining a 4 – 6 bed short stay assessment/monitoring area (with enhanced outpatient services) and a new urgent paediatrician referral service designed to improve communication with community teams. Emergency Room (ER) Physicians and Paediatricians agreed to change their models of care, nurse/physician groups from both the ER and Paediatrics developed inclusion/exclusion criteria and patient flow algorithms, and hospital services (Pharmacy, Registration) agreed to support changes required.
