The third annual Game of Throws dodgeball tournament was held on April 27, raising $4,700 for the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF).

The event was held at Envision Athletic Centre at University of the Fraser Valley, and the Abbotsford Dodgeball Leagues moderated the games and even joined in the round-robin tournament.

Teams were dressed in everything from nurse smocks to matching T-shirts with crazy socks.

The finals saw The Trading Post’s Watch (Trading Post Brewing) and ODGE: Endgame (Abbotsford Dodgeball League) battling it out in Tier 1, with the The Balls are Coming (Chilliwack Dodgeball League) and A Team with No Name (Abbotsford Dodgeball League) competing in Tier 2.

Trading Post and The Balls are Coming each won their best-of-three sudden-death matches.

The Golden Bedpan trophy will be displayed at the Trading Post Eatery in Abbotsford until next year’s tournament.

“The tournament allowed companies a venue to build moral, focus on wellness and raise much-needed funds for health care in their community,” said Liz Harris, FVHCF executive director.

The FVHCF raises funds for vital equipment and programs funded or endorsed by the Fraser Health Authority. It serves Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope, Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs.

The foundation is already reviewing ideas for 2019. Anyone interested in supporting this fundraiser is asked to send an email to tracey.rouillard@fraserhealth.ca.
