Abbotsford Regional Hospital’s rehabilitation team is celebrating the significant addition of the Sara Combilizer, a multi-functional mobilization tool acquired through generous donations from Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation. This cutting-edge equipment is already making a profound impact on patient recovery.

The Sara Combilizer revolutionizes mobilization by allowing patients to transition seamlessly between lying, sitting, and standing positions without the need for traditional transfers. Dr. Jassal states, “early and efficient mobilization is crucial for physical stimulation, promoting stronger muscles and bones, and improving vascular and respiratory function, which is why the Foundation remains committed to providing innovative and patient-centred care for the community”.

“The Sara Combilizer has been an amazing addition to the rehab team and has already been used many times”, states Jason Krahn, physiotherapy practice lead at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. “It is so useful for patients who have experienced severe strokes, multi-trauma, or those from the ICU who are extremely weak and debilitated and unable to stand”.

The Sara Combilizer’s versatility is particularly beneficial for patients who are unable to stand or bear weight on their own. By providing a safe and controlled environment for gradual mobilization, the equipment helps to improve circulation, strength, and overall well-being.

Krahn goes on to say, “This vital piece of equipment significantly enhances our ability to provide effective and compassionate care to our patients. It empowers our therapists with the tools they need to deliver the most impactful rehabilitation programs”.
