Chilliwack supports local hospital by eating 50 pounds of bacon and sausage

Chilliwack residents came out to support the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation’s fourth annual It’s A Wonderful Breakfast last week.

The breakfast at the Coast Chilliwack Hotel on Nov. 28 served more than 40 lbs of bacon and sausage, 22 dozen eggs and 30 lbs of hash browns to hungry yet generous guests.

The well-fed guests helped raise more than $3,300. The funds this year will help the campaign for a greatly needed Primary Care Expansion at Chilliwack General Hospital.

“This event is a wonderful way to start the Christmas season,” said Liz Harris, executive director of the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF). “The warmth and generosity of the people in Chilliwack never ceases to amaze me and the pile of toys and toiletries they brought are proof of that”

Guests were deeply moved by motivational speaker Jim Ryan, they enjoyed a performance by Sue Breton and earned some insight on primary care from Dr. Melanie Madill, Chilliwack family doctor.

“We could not make this event happen without our sponsors, Coast Hotel Chilliwack and Auxiliary to the Chilliwack General Hospital, as well as the participants. It is with a full heart I would like to thank every single one of them” said Harris. “We are happy to be closer to our goal of $1 million for Primary Care Clinic.”
